Let the fashion course begin... Induction

So the first couple of days were spent with the mandatory getting to know you sessions. And woven into these tediously patronising games we had a tour of the building and the facilities on offer.

Firstly we were taken to the library, the most shocking words of all came from the librarians mouth. You may want to be sitting down before you read this, or lean against the person next to you if you're currently on public transport, like myself.  And if you have no support at all for goodness sake skip this part ! She said 'who's been to a library before ?', there I was  protecting my hardback in my satchel as my arm proudly shoots sky high. It doesn't take long to notice that not many others seem to have the same enthusiasm as me, as no one in front has bothered to put their hand up. And wait a second, oh no, nobody behind has bothered either.  You know what's even more shocking ? No, I know you can't believe it can get any worse. The librarian was more surprised that I had been to the library than the other 20 hadn't !

So after that revelation she went on to explain the library and how, shock horror, books were kept here. 'Any questions' she asked, one girl found her voice and with a dead pan face innocently asked 'how would we find a book in here'. You could tell by everyone else's faces that they were secretly hoping someone else would ask as they had no clue either, and as the librarian explained they are displayed in categories and alphabetical order the students seemed impressed that she herself had thought of such a logical way of organising the books. And as we left the library to carry on the tour I knew I'd never have to worry about reserving a book, the DVDs maybe, but the books were safe for now.
